Garmin Watch Band Sizes
Garmin uses two different band systems, and a band from one won't attach to the other even when the width matches. Find out which one your watch has, then the width.
Two systems: quick release and QuickFit
| Quick release | QuickFit | |
|---|---|---|
| How it attaches | A standard spring bar with a small lever (pin) you slide to release | A latch on the band clips over a fixed bar in the case |
| Widths | 18, 20, 22mm | 20, 22, 26mm |
| Typical watches | Forerunner (most), Venu, vivoactive | Fenix, Epix, Forerunner 945/955/965 |
| Other straps | Any standard strap of the right width fits | QuickFit bands only, or an adapter |
Garmin's own manuals for quick-release models such as the Forerunner 255 and 265 say they work with standard quick-release bands, so any good 18, 20 or 22mm strap with quick-release bars fits. QuickFit is Garmin's tool-free latch: the band clicks over a bar that stays in the watch.
How to tell which one you have
- Look at the back of the band where it meets the watch. A small sliding pin on the bar means quick release.
- A flat latch or lever built into the band end, with a fixed bar in the watch, means QuickFit.
- Or find your model in the chart below.

Sizing patterns (and where they break)
- Small “S” models are narrower: the Forerunner 255S and 265S and the Venu 3S take 18mm, while their full-size versions take 22mm.
- Fenix sizes follow the case: the 5S/6S/7S take QuickFit 20, the standard models QuickFit 22, and the 5X/6X/7X QuickFit 26.
- The Fenix 8 is named by case size instead: 43mm takes QuickFit 20, 47mm QuickFit 22 and 51mm QuickFit 26.
Can I use a normal watch strap?
On quick-release models, yes: any standard strap of the right width fits, including NATOs, leather and rubber. On QuickFit models you need either QuickFit bands or a QuickFit adapter, which clips into the watch and gives you a spring-bar lug for a normal strap. Check the adapter's width matches your QuickFit size.
