Guide
Integrated, Proprietary & Smartwatch Straps
Some watches don't use the usual pair of lugs and a spring bar, so a normal strap won't attach. Here's which watches in our index fall into that group, why, and how to get a different strap on anyway.
What “integrated” means
An integrated strap or bracelet flows straight out of the case with no standard lug gap, as on the Tissot PRX. A proprietary fitting has some kind of mount, but it's unique to the brand or model, like a G-Shock's resin lugs or a smartwatch's slide-in slot. Either way, a normal 20mm or 22mm strap won't attach on its own.
Integrated bracelet watches
- Tissot PRX 40 — Integrated case: straps attach with Tissot's quick-release bars. Use straps made for the 40mm PRX.
- Tissot PRX 35 — Integrated case: use straps made for the 35mm PRX. 40mm PRX straps are a different size.
- Citizen Tsuyosa — Integrated bracelet — no standard lugs.
Your options are the maker's own straps, model-specific aftermarket straps shaped to the case, or (for some models) adapters.
G-Shocks and other resin Casios
- Casio G-Shock DW-5600E — Square G-Shock — proprietary resin strap; needs a DW-5600 adapter for 22mm straps.
- Casio G-Shock GA-2100 (CasiOak) — Proprietary lugs; use GA-2100 adapters for standard straps.
- Casio G-Shock GM-2100 — Metal-bezel CasiOak; GA/GM-2100 adapters needed.
- Casio G-Shock DW-6900 — Proprietary resin strap.
- Casio AE1200 (Royale) — Proprietary resin strap; 22mm adapters exist.
- Casio G-Shock GW-M5610 — Resin G-Shock lugs: DW-5600-type straps and adapters are sold for it.
These use moulded resin straps attached with short bars inside the case's own lug shapes. Aftermarket adapter kits bolt into that space and convert it to a standard lug width so you can fit NATOs, rubber or leather. Check which width the adapter gives you before buying straps.
Smartwatches with proprietary bands
- Apple Watch 45mm — Uses Apple Watch bands (42/44/45/49mm family).
- Apple Watch 41mm — Uses the 38/40/41mm Apple Watch band family.
- Apple Watch Ultra 49mm — 49mm bands; Apple says 44, 45 and 46mm bands also fit for casual, everyday use.
- Apple Watch 46mm — Large band family: 44, 45, 46 and 49mm bands fit.
- Apple Watch 42mm (Series 10/11) — Small band family: 38, 40, 41 and 42mm (Series 10/11) bands fit.

- Garmin Fenix 7X — QuickFit 26 bands.
- Garmin Fenix 8 (47mm) — QuickFit 22 bands.
- Garmin Fenix 8 (51mm) — QuickFit 26 bands.
- Garmin Instinct 2 — Takes Instinct 2 bands or QuickFit 22 bands. QuickFit bands latch over the watch's own pin.
- Garmin Instinct 2S — Takes 20mm Instinct 2S bands or QuickFit 20 bands. The larger Instinct 2 takes QuickFit 22.
- Google Pixel Watch 2 — Proprietary Pixel Watch band mount — Pixel bands only.
- Google Pixel Watch 3 (45mm) — 45mm Pixel bands only; 41mm Pixel bands don't fit.
- Google Pixel Watch 3 (41mm) — Takes most 41mm Pixel Watch bands, including Pixel Watch 1 and 2 bands.
- Fitbit Versa 4 — Proprietary Fitbit band mount.
Apple Watch bands come in size families. Apple's own guidance: bands for 38, 40 and 41mm cases are interchangeable; bands for 42 (earlier models), 44 and 45mm cases are interchangeable; and 46mm and 49mm bands also fit 44–46mm cases. Newer generations have reused some numbers; our Apple Watch band size guide untangles them. Garmin watches with QuickFit take QuickFit bands in 20, 22 or 26mm; see Garmin band sizes. Google Pixel Watch and Fitbit bands are proprietary to each model line, and Samsung's newest models have their own fitting too (Galaxy Watch band sizes).
Smartwatches that take normal straps
Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 (44mm), Garmin Forerunner 265 and Huawei Watch GT 4 (46mm), among others, use ordinary spring bars, often quick-release, so any strap of the right width fits. Look them up in the finder for the exact width.
Buying adapters: what to check
- Exact model compatibility. Adapters are shaped for specific case references.
- The output width, so you know which straps to buy next.
- Overall length. Adapters stick out past the case, so the watch wears longer on the wrist. See our wrist-fit guide.
- Screws versus spring bars. Screw-in adapters are more secure; keep a drop of threadlocker handy.
